Warned beforehand by a rodeo manger that he looks a little too much like a terrorist; Borat wins over the crowd by informing them that Kazakhstan supports their countrys War of Terror. He then goes on to include that he hopes George Bush may drink the blood of every man, woman and child in Iraq. Borat proceeds to stir up the rodeo but, when he begins to sings his version of Kazakhstans national anthem to the tune of Americas; he is immediately booed out of the arena. Sacha Baron Cohen knows exactly which buttons to press and he then just keeps on pressing them. A Hotel messenger delivers a telegram informing Borat that his wife has just died. At first the man is very professional; even offering sincere condolences, but when Borat gets excited over the news and yells out haigh faive, the man quickly joins in on the celebration. Borat pushes the limit of humour as he reveals a deep and disturbing truth and, ignorance within American culture. Do we live in a society where difference is not accepted? Borat heads from Washington D.C, Tennessee, California and finally to Los Angles in search for his beloved Pamela Anderson. Most people would fly across America, but Borat prefers to travel in style!-in an ice cream van. He purchases from a car dealer. Although he does have a reasonable excuse, he fears that in case the Jews repeat their attack of 9/ 11. If for any reason you object to seeing a 500lb bare, naked and hairy man running around a hotel room, then you might want to rethink about watching this film. Whether its black people, Jewish people, women, students, every category of human beings will find something to complain about after watching this film. Borat is placed in the most difficult situations possible, sometimes barely escaping being sent off to jail and even once wrestled to the ground by the police. All throughout the documentary Cohen remains in character. Like him or hate him, Sacha Baron Cohen delivers the amazing performance and one that the audience wont forget. Cohens comedy can sometime stoop to the comedy likes of Jackass-type toilet humour. A few scenes just arent funny enough and are unnecessary such as the fight between Azamat and Borat which leads to them standing naked in a presentation evening. Cohen delivers some of the biggest laughs of the year, while at the same time thinking about the root causes of prejudice and intolerance, and for that reason Borat is a must-see.

Positive responses to criticism are important as it moves relationships in a positive direction. â€Å"The effective way to respond to criticism is to use an assertive style. It does not attack, surrender to, or sabotage the critic. It disarms the critic.†(McKay and Fanning, 2000) It is no use to response criticism emotionally. Sammy is encouraged to learn keeping a peaceful mind to receive any criticism. Rather than Shut herself up or lock the door, Sammy may try to express her different opinion to her parent but in calm. This self-disclosure helps knowing each others. Social penetration theory (Altman and Taylor, 1973) explains that close relationships develop in terms of increasing self-disclosure. Constructive criticism points out possibilities for improvement (Ginott, 1965). 4.Self Reflection In this case, I am found out the importance of self-knowing and self-valuing, and realize that an effective communication is really essential to build positive relationship. Not only communicate well on normal situation, but also we have to communicate healthy on criticism. In my case, my father is a kind of criticism-favor man, who loves to blame on everything since his 65 years old. Every time he shouted to us, just like Sammy, I quarreled with him first and shut up soon, or left his house, just let him alone . I though this is a smartest way to avoid meaningless argument with the old man. But the fact is he never stop quarrelling with me once I came back. RELIGIOUS INFLUENCES ON VIETNAM      I understand there to be copious amounts of influential events which triggered trends in Vietnamese culture. The Chinese influence in Vietnam may have likely led to its communist political system. Vietnamese nationalism may have contributed to the difficulties the French faced during its colonization of Vietnam. However, I believe that the most relevant contribution to contemporary Vietnamese culture is the religious diversity and how it contributes to Vietnam’s closed-door economic and political philosophies.      Buddhism is the primary religion in Vietnam. Buddhists believe that the way to become â€Å"enlightened†is to understand the Four Noble Truths of Buddhism and to follow the Eight-Fold Path. Basically, I understand Buddhism to be a very internal religion based on the spirituality of the self. Various forms of meditation and intense study coupled with the eradication of desire lead to a very defined lifestyle with little or no need for external human interaction. Once a Buddhist has achieved what is considered to be the proper behavior and proper knowledge called for by the Eight Fold Path, and after a Buddhist has spent many years manipulating his or her dharma, Buddhists tend to leave behind all belongings and travel forth into the wilderness trying to achieve nirvana. This religious practice, in my opinion, has had a significant impact on the Vietnamese culture and the way they interact with outsiders. The fact that the Vietnamese are not exceedingly eage r to be invaded by foreign corporations and capitalism makes sense; capitalism is not a prerequisite to Buddhism.      Taoism was also introduced to medieval Vietnam and is still noticeably practiced there today. Once a Buddhist has achieved what is considered to be the proper behavior and proper knowledge called for by the Eight Fold Path, and after a Buddhist has spent many years manipulating his or her dharma, Buddhists tend to leave behind all belongings and travel forth into the wilderness trying to achieve nirvana. This religious practice, in my opinion, has had a significant impact on the Vietnamese culture and the way they interact with outsiders. Hiroshima Paper
The book begins with the telling of what the main six characters were doing before, during, and shortly after the bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. The book goes on to show how the people believed that it only affected the general area, and how they realized that it affected the entire city. Many people were injured and scorn. Some people were even trapped under buildings. It continues to show when the Japanese Emperor announced on the radio that Japan was going to surrender to the U. S.In the few days, survivors, Japanese scientists, and government leaders discovered that the weapon was actually a new type of bomb. The government was very careful and indistinct in reporting details to the public. The fates of the main characters were described, and they all suffered from some form of radiation sickness. The Japanese were able to figure out from analyzing the people and the remains of the bomb what is was made of. The last chapters tell you about the atom bomb victims a year to forty ye ars after the bomb. It also tells how the city rebuilt itself and recovered from being attacked by a nuclear weapon.Even though the six main characters went through the same situation in a different way they all fought to overcome the damage left behind y the bombing. Through reading this booking two characters that stood out to me were Father Wilhelm Kleinsorge and Dr. Terufumi Sasaki. These two stood out because I felt they helped a lot of people even when they could not help themselves. I have much admiration for Dr. Sasaki because he when called stood up to the plate, and was able to go on with his life. Father Wilhelm is a thirty-eight year old German priest.Father Wilhelm was in his room reading and got scared when he saw the flash. He somehow ended up outside in vegetable garden pacing around. The only physical marks he had were cuts. He helped a man escaped, but the man ended up running back into the fire. He went to a park called Asano Park where he helped assisting in help ing people. Father Wilhelm was able to help the people in the park until he was taken to a Catholic Novitiate outside of the city. He took two children with him by the name of Kataoka who he able to reunite with their mother.In the book it says that Father Kleinsorge may have had the worst sickness of all the main characters. He was sent to a hospital in Tokyo for over three months. He suffered from symptoms such as: high fever, low white blood cell count, and anemia. When he was finally allowed to return to Hiroshima the doctor told him that every day he should take at least a two hour nap. Even though the doctors told him to do this he did not follow instructions. He seemed to always put his work before his own health. When August came he was so sick he had to return to the hospital for a month's recovery process.Since his exposure to radiation and constant working habits on behalf of others he ended up repeating the cycle of getting better and ending back up in the hospital. He d id not slow down until his body gave out on him. He wanted o bad to help the people that he got Japanese citizenship and changed his name to Father Makoto Takakura. After some really bad sicknesses in the 1950s, he was finally transferred to a small church in Mukaihara, the same town as Dr. Sasaki. He ended up getting a cook by the name of Yoshiki-san, who in the end is there to take of him in came to thank him for the wonderful things he had done.In 1976 he slipped on some ice and became bed-ridden for the rest of his life. Yoshiki-san was there by his side to take of him, and a year later he fell into a coma and never woke up. Dr. Terufumi Sasaki was a surgeon working at the Hiroshima Red Cross center. At the time of the bombing he was bringing blood to the laboratory. Dr. Sasaki was thankfully left undamaged because when the bomb hit he was lucky enough to have taken a step beyond the window and crouched down. He ended up being one of the six doctors left that was not hurt so he had to treat a lot of people.At one point in time he had to work three days only having one hour of sleep. From working so much and not getting but six hours of sleep he ended up losing twenty pounds. The medical equipment he had to work with was not the best, and he was only working off of onations that people were making. He gained some since of his old self and ended up getting married to Dr. FuJii. They to live in a summer house, but a flood destroyed the house and he was forced to leave. He then opened a clinic in the suburb of Hiroshima, and rebuilt a successful practice.He had to travel to Yokohama for training, and here is where he finally came to a realization Atomic bomb survivor. He soon found that he had to get his whole left lung removed, which almost resulted in his death. This occurrence made him appreciate life and he vow to treat his patients ore compassionately, and to spend more time with his wife and four children. Dr. Sasaki's only regret was that he had not bee n able to more carefully record the identities of all the Red Cross Hospital corpses so that they would not be wandering in the afterlife, upset at not being properly remembered. Dr.Sasaki was the person who distanced himself from his Hiroshima experience through making a life somewhere else, while Father Wilhelm could not separate his self from Hiroshima resulting in his death. All six characters in this book were lucky because after the bombing unlike many people they still had their lives. Some were able to go on with their lives, while others let the situation take over them. The sickness was something that they all suffered from and was a negative that they all faced. Some of them dedicated and were obligated into helping the other people who were not as fortunate as them.It had to be hard seeing people around you dying and there not being too much you can do. Father Kleinsorge passage was basically saying that was it right that people had no say so in their lives being taken. Kind of like saying should the people suffer for the decisions made by one person, when they do not even know what is going on around them. The people who consider it Just an attack that affected the civilian do not look at the broader aspect. The bomb was the ending result of something much bigger.The people Just so happen to be a sacrifice in the situation. It was like the leaders of Japan were so caught up in evil that they did not realize that they were hurting the people of Japan. The bombing was like a realization to the government that they had been killing the people so much spiritually, and this was the physical outcome. It to me was kind of like they could not appreciate the good that they received after the bombing until they went through the bad. The good was that the initial war ended, but so many lives were lost in the process.These lives being loosed I think had to happen because if it were smaller the people would have wanted to retaliate instead of come together and stop the violence. Reading this but the movie seemed to focus more on the American side of the bombing rather than side from the people in Hiroshima. The movie makes it seem as if the bomb had to be dropped, while reading the book you see that Japan could have been overtaken without the drastic measures. The book does not go into detail about the attack Japan has before, which was the cause of the bombing.The movie and the book both focus on making one side seem more Justifiable or victims than the other. I think John Hersey book Hiroshima is a great book for college students to read because it gives them an outlook on the other side of the spectrum. This will allow them to decide for themselves who was wrong and right in the situation. It also even Just gives them a more detailed event of what actually happen August 1945. The book also gives students an outlook of how something major can happen to so many people and affect everyone in different ways. So the book should be read bec ause either way it will be some type of learning experience.

Lobbying is a pathway of action, a way for citizens to influence government, that is essential for to be able to use, but is dangerous when lobbyists push for ideas that are from a minority instead of the majority. Lobbyists are those who attempt to persuade or influence the opinion of the actions of government through sharing information, persuasion, and political pressure via telephone, email, letters, and voicing your opinions directly to your representatives (Congressmen, city council members, senators). Reasons for lobby are usually Lobbying is beneficial to bringing change faster than the other pathways of action, for lobbyists are directly influencing their representatives. Lobbyists benefit government through giving public opinion to issues and through upholding the desires of the people Federal and State Government officials do no just come up with ideas for laws on the spot by themselves; they obtain ideas for laws through the ideas and concerns of the people in order to keep them happy, for the main goal of any political official is re-election. It is required to register as a lobbyist in Texas after 5 days of lobbying and that has contacted any legislature for the purpose of persuasion along with receiving $1000 in compensation or $500 quad-annually. Lobbying benefits government because it is a pathway of action that the citizens of the country can take for the purpose of influencing government, but it can also corrupt government through lobbying the interests of minorities instead of the majority. The creation of the relationships through social lobbying can put a leash on legislatures, and cause these legislatures to be act on the will of the min ority group.

Accidents Have Caused Major Explosion In the past few years there had been a steady increment in the usage of the risk assessment in the offshore production facilities. This is especially after the Piper Alpha disaster in 1988 and many other major accidents that killed many lives. Operators are showing an increasing awareness by reviewing the safety of their existing topside production facilities. The Piper Alpha accident provided adverse confirmation that the predictions of risk analyses regarding major accidents were certainly prudent. Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) is very useful in order to reduce the risks especially on the hydrocarbon releases from offshore topsides facilities. (Harmony, 1998) The accidents have caused major explosion and followed by some other minor explosions that release huge amount of hydrocarbons such as gas, liquid and 2-phase liquid. According to the investigation report that had been made after the accident, the main reason that causes the accident is the handover work made by two diff erent shift personnel. Communication problem is one of the reasons of the tragedy. Initially the platform only produced crude oil. However, after a few years natural gas is also being produced. During the installation of the gas conversion equipment, the fire walls were not upgraded to the blast wall that causes a severe explosion throughout the disaster. Moreover, the pumping operation of oil and gas was continued even though the fire started to spread on the platform due to lack of professed authority that just witness the burning of the Piper (Taylor, Wallace, & Ward, 1991). It was started from the two condensate injection pumps which are A and B. The day shift engineer forgot to inform the condition of pump A to the night shift engineer in which the pressure valve was removed for recalibration and recertification. There are about 106 recommendation has made for the future of safety offshore by the Cullen Report. All of the recommendations had been accepted and implemented by the offshore operators later then (Simon, 2012a). Petrobras Enchova Central Platform was listed in the major offshore accidents. This platform also listed as one of the worst and notable blowouts in the history of offshore oil platform. It is located in the Enchova Field, Brazil and operated by Petrobras. Two major incidents recorded in these fields which were on 16 August 1984 and 24 April 1988. The first accidents caused by blowout followed by explosion and fire. Most of the personnel were evacuated safely by chopper and lifeboat. Unfortunately, 42 workers died during the evacuation processed. The main reason that killed many lives during evacuation is because the failure of lowering mechanism of a lifeboat. The lifeboat was suspended and eventually fell 10-20m to the sea which killed 36 personnel. The other six workers were killed when they jumped from the platform to the sea at 30-40m height. (Simon, 2012b) The second accident occurred on 24 April 1988 which is four years later dur ing the workover operations on the platform. One of the well that operated by the platform blew out and finally ignited that resulted in the destruction of the platform. Petrobras decided to drill two relief wells in 30 days’ time and eventually succeed in controlling the blowout (Maduro & Reynolds, 1989). The workover well was performed in order to convert oil well to gas well. Then the blowout occurred during that converting process. The fire resulted from gas ignition last for 31 days. There was no loss of life recorded because the floating living quarters were separated from the platform during the blowout. The operator incurred a total loss because the extensive damage to the topside structure (Simon, 2012b).
